Sunday GATHERING
WHAT TO EXPECT
Join us on Sundays at the Melvin H. King South End Academy (formerly McKinley Elementary School).
Start Time: 10:15am
Address: 90 Warren Avenue, Boston, MA 02116
Each Sunday, we also invite you to join us for Pre-Gathering Prayer at 9:30am to intentionally seek God's presence and pray on behalf of the staff and students at the school.
Our Sunday gatherings are a central part of who we are as a community following Jesus. This is a time of corporate renewal where we gather to retell the story of the gospel—the great redemptive story into which God graciously invites us. We participate in this story together through a set of practices (a liturgy) that is detailed below. Our gatherings are designed to be hospitable and to combine both expressive and contemplative forms of worship. We welcome anyone and everyone to attend.
Order of Prayer & Worship: Check out our Sunday liturgy here!
Children & Families: Children are welcome to join us on Sundays! For families who are interested, children are dismissed right before the Sermon (during the Passing of the Peace) for an age appropriate Bible Story and Activity. This time includes a story from a children's Bible, a related activity, a simple snack, and free play. Children are picked up by their parents immediately following the conclusion of the service.
Parking: The school has a parking lot that is accessible via Dartmouth Street, but the lot is also open to the community on weekends, so spots are first-come, first-served. See the parking map below for directions. Metered parking is also free in Boston on Sundays and can be found on most major streets (Dartmouth St, Clarendon St, Boylston St, Columbus Ave, Tremont St, etc).
our current sermon series
This Christmas, join the chorus in celebration of our Savior! Luke’s gospel gives us four poetic passages in which characters burst into song to celebrate Jesus’ Advent. This Christmas season, we’ll unwrap these texts, discovering what Jesus' arrival meant to each of these 1st century artists and how His coming still changes everything for us today.
